Necromancer players are learning that Season 14 isn't about grabbing one shiny damage piece and calling it done. A proper setup starts with the right Diablo 4 Items, then asks whether Essence, defence, and movement can actually keep up. That's where most copied builds fall apart.
Blood Skills Need a Working Engine
Blood Wave hits hard because it now behaves like a repeatable spender, not a once-in-a-while panic button. Kessime's Legacy also pulls enemies into the wave's meeting point. Less chasing. More hits landing where they should.
Blood Blight takes a different route. It wants attack speed, crit scaling, Overpower triggers, and enough Essence to keep firing. Sounds simple on paper. It really isn't once a boss fight drags on.
What Usually Breaks First
The Meta: Blood Wave and Blood Blight both turn rapid Essence spending into steady pressure.
The Snag: Extra attack speed or Crown of Lucion can empty the resource globe ridiculously fast.
The Fix: Build cost reduction and Lucky Hit restoration before chasing another damage multiplier.
Reality check: A massive tooltip means very little when you're throwing one cast, then jogging around waiting for Essence.
Why Defensive Uniques Have Moved Up
Endurant Faith has become a real progression item, especially in deep Pit runs and nasty Tower encounters. It won't make a Necromancer immortal. What it does is turn a brutal one-shot into a few seconds where Blood Mist, a potion, or a retreat can save the run.
The buzz on Discord: players seem happier using a lower-damage setup that clears every run than a glass cannon that randomly gets deleted.
Gear Choices Should Match the Job
Red Flag: Don't equip every Unique you find because a missing Legendary Aspect can quietly wreck your whole rotation.
Pick the Build You Can Sustain
Blood Wave suits players who want clean grouping and one obvious main button. Blood Blight feels busier, with Sever movement, minion utility, curses, and tighter positioning. Either can work, but only if the loop stays alive. Farm cheap D4 items with a plan, not just because another purple drop looks tempting.
